INTERMEDIATE II
(suggested ages: 12-13 and up)
Provides a culmination of the three previous units; connecting the exercises and concepts of preceding lessons.
- Exercises use multiple planes of movement with various types of resistance
- Training concepts are expanded, simple muscle anatomy is explained
- Involvement of balance and stability in exercise increases; further examples of using specific balance implements are provided
- Makes greater use of combination exercises; introduces complex and single joint movements
- Offers a “challenge” exercise(s) in each lesson
- Student’s responsibility for themselves, and their partner, during training is increased
- Circuit and station circuit training are explained; 12 training session models, with variations, are provided
